President Trump’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 would eliminate the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and substantially cut funding for most agencies that regulate the workforce. The President submitted his budget request to Congress May 30.

DOL’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) would assume OFCCP’s enforcement of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA, while the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) would take on enforcement of Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Agencies that would receive significant cuts include the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and DOL’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Conversely, the budgets for the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would increase substantially.

Of course, submission of the president’s budget request is merely the first step in the federal budget process. Congress will take the next steps.

The Center for Workplace Compliance, our affiliated nonprofit membership association, has prepared a FY 2026 Funding Resource that provides a detailed summary of the budget request. CWC will update this resource as appropriations legislation progresses. CWC members can read more here.
