Earlier this year, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) launched a joint effort dubbed the Hiring Initiative to Reimagine Equity (“HIRE”). Among other things, the HIRE initiative was created ostensibly for the purpose of identifying strategies to remove unnecessary barriers to hiring and to promote equity in the use of tech-based hiring systems.
The most tangible output from the HIRE initiative thus far – indeed, the only output – has been the convening of four virtual discussion roundtables hosted jointly by the two agencies, the most recent of which was held on September 13, 2022, and entitled “Decoded: Can Technology Advance Equitable Recruiting and Hiring?”
