The EEOC has announced that it will not accept 2021 EEO-1 report beyond June 21, 2022, a de facto extension of the May 17 filing deadline. In the meantime, there are still some issues that filers may want to consider before certifying their reports.
The filing season for the 2021 “Component 1” Employer Information (EEO-1) Reports is nearing its official deadline of May 17, 2022. And while the 2021 filing season arguably has gone smoother for filers than last year, there are a few lingering questions and issues remaining that employers should consider before they certify or recertify their reports.
Please note also that although the official filing deadline is May 17, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has announced via a FAQ that any filers that have not submitted and certified their EEO-1 Reports by May 17 will have until June 21, 2022, to do so, in effect serving to extend the deadline for another month. The June 21 deadline also applies in the case of filers that want to decertify and later recertify their reports in order to update their submission. The EEOC indicates that no 2021 EEO-1 Reports will be accepted after June 21.
