The deadline for filing 2024 Component 1 Employer Information (EEO-1) Reports with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is June 24 at 11 p.m. Eastern Time.

EEOC opened the EEO-1 Online Filing System (OFS) May 20, and the season will last five weeks. There is no subsequent failure-to-file period.

The EEO-1 provides a snapshot of a company’s workforce by race, ethnicity, sex, and job category.

This season’s most notable change is that employers must report all employees as either male or female. (Previously, filers could exclude employees who identify in a non-binary gender category and describe their race, ethnicity, and EEO-1 job category in the comments field.)

Filers can enter their EEO-1 data manually into the EEO-1’s online filing application or upload their completed EEO-1s electronically through the EEO-1 Filing Application. The EEOC’s Data File Upload Specifications contains formatting instructions. The Instruction Booklet contains general instructions.

Filers must report the Unique Entity ID for establishments that are federal contractors. Federal contractors that lack a UEI may enter UNAVAILABLE. A non-contractor parent organization can enter UNAVAILABLE when filing EEO-1s for subsidiaries that are federal contractors.
