Top officials from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) recently held a second online discussion on their joint, inter-agency initiative to raise awareness about workplace retaliation, particularly with respect to so-called vulnerable populations (i.e., migrant workers, workers with limited-English proficiency, and low-wage workers).
The February 24 webinar was similar to the online discussion held by the three agencies last November announcing the new initiative, and as was the case then, this latest session did not produce much in the way of guidance that larger employers with anti-retaliation policies in place might find helpful.
Given the fact that the initiative has received a fair amount of media coverage and has featured top agency officials, however, we wanted to provide this update.
